DISZNÓKŐ TOKAJI ASZÚ 6 PUTTONYOS
The Disznókő personality of the vintage
“1997 is like a hidden treasure kept locked away, but suddenly revealed. Certainly not an easy vintage but we made elegant wines with a good structure and very pure fruit.”
The vintage conditions at Disznókő and the influence on the wines
“The weather was mostly dry and sunny, but the ripening of the berries occurred very late. We had almost no rain so the grapes remained healthy until the mid-October frosts. Botrytis appeared late on the thin grape skin. Thanks to the sunny and dry but already cool weather, the shrivelling began and the aszú grapes developed. The few aszú grapes we harvested this year were of outstanding quality, maybe the highest since the great vintage of 1993. 1997 is the year of surprises!”
