Pure expression of an exceptional terroir in an exceptional vintage

We are delighted to reveal to you the 2011 vintage of DISZNÓKŐ KAPI VINEYARD TOKAJI ASZÚ 6 PUTTONYOS, the third vintage of this rare wine which has only been made previously in 1999 and 2005.

This wine is from Kapi, a unique parcel of our vineyard which is exclusively planted with Furmint, the most noble and ancient of the Tokaj grape varieties. It is made only when the Kapi parcel distinctively expresses its own personality and with only its most perfect aszú berries. Kapi, situated in the upper part (150 – 180 m above sea level) of the southern slopes of Disznókő, is a unique terroir with a volcanic, lighter clay soil containing an abundance of rhyolite gravels.

2011 is a vintage without precedent, surprising in all respects and unique among the Disznókő vintages.

This hot, dry vintage was characterised by early ripening followed by leisurely botrytis development which resulted in one of the longest harvests in the history of Disznókő – from 25th August to 30th November. The aszú grapes were of exceptional quality. The desiccated grapes endowed our wines with a concentration and elegance supported by supple acidity.

The aszú berries were collected on 3 successive tries, or passages, in the Kapi parcel. We then macerated them in fermenting Furmint must, also grapes harvested in Kapi at the end of the harvest.

The richness and extreme concentration of these noble berries of Kapi parcel have given us an exceedingly pure wine with perfect balance and infinite finesse. This combined to give outstanding harmony: a mineral freshness with sweetness, free from all excess. The discrete, wonderfully aromas offer noble traces of white fruits, flowers and fine oak notes.

DISZNÓKŐ KAPI VINEYARD TOKAJI ASZÚ 6 PUTTONYOS is a wine of limited quantity. In the 2011 vintage just 4654 bottles were produced. Each is individually numbered.
