1992

The vintage marked the first steps for Disznókő; it was like conquering a whole new territory. 1992 was maybe not a perfect vintage but with time and ageing, it has developed an excellence balance between richness and acidity. The aromas are straight-forward and yet fairly expressive.

Early summer rain was followed by hot, dry weather, with some rain in midsummer and late September. The Botrytis settled, and the harvest started in mid October. The healthy grapes and the small quantity of aszú berries harvested before the end of October were good quality. However the rainy spell delayed the harvest in November and reduced quantity and quality. This was the first vintage to be vinified by Disznókő, and the only grapes not directly under our control from start to finish. We arrived in September when the harvest was already underway and the presses and vats were still arriving. So it was really an adventurous harvest and vinification – truly discovering new lands!
